Professor in Clinical and Experimental Cardiology, Aalborg University, Denmark.

Specialist in Cardiology and Internal Medicine.

For 32 years MD at Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet), herof for 15 years Consultant at the Cardiology Clinic, the Heart Centre, Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet). Then 3 years employment as Consultant at Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, Holbæk Hospital. From 2019 employed as Consultant at Department of Cardiology, Copenhagen University Hospital (Amager-Hvidovre).

Editor of The European Heart Journal - Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy.

Editor of The European Society of Cardiology Handbook on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy.

Author of 234 papers and author/editor of 3 books. Presenter of 98 lectures nationally and internationally. Chairman at 60 scientific sessions nationally and internationally.

Supervisor of doctoral thesises and Ph.D.s etc.

Extensive experience as peer reviewer at scientific journals, from editorial boards, as chairman and organizer of meetings and congresses and as examiner of thesises and research projects nationally and internationally.

More than 8200 citations in Web of Science. H-index more than 40 (calculated 2019).

Teaching interests: Heart disease, cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, research methodology.

More than 2900 teaching hours for students and doctors.

Officially appointed national examiner for medical students.

Extensive experience as chairman and organizer of educational courses.

Received 6 international or national awards for research and education.

Family:  Married to former special advisor, cand. scient. pol. Tove Kjeldsen, Ministry of Health and Elderly, has a son and a daughter.

Hobby: The family’s small farm.
